Dr DAMIEN LOUIS

MEDICAL RETINAL SPECIALIST

Dr Damien Louis joined our team of specialists in 2005. She is a fellowship trained ophthalmologist specializing in the treatment of diseases of the retina. Her main areas of interest are Age Related Macular Degeneration, Diabetic Retinopathy and Retinal Vein Occlusions. She is also dedicated to preventative vitamins and uses Ocular Coherence Tomography (OCT) machine for more precise ARMD monitoring.

Damien completed her university degree in South Australia at Flinders University of South Australia and then spent two years working at Kura Yerlo, the Aboriginal Health Centre in Adelaide. She completed her ophthalmology training at the Royal Victorian Eye and Ear Hospital. She was the senior registrar for the Department of Ophthalmology at the Royal Adelaide Hospital in 2000 before travelling to Oxford England to complete a fellowship in medical retina.

Damien is a member of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Ophthalmologists and the Australian and New Zealand Society of Retinal Specialists. She is a consultant at the Royal Victorian Eye and Ear Hospital in the Medical Retina Clinic. For the last 5 years she has been involved in several major research projects at RVEEH, including trialing new treatments for diabetic retinopathy.

Dr Louis consults at the Cheltenham Eye Centre every Wednesday afternoon and an additional Wednesday morning once a month.

Effective November 2011

Dr Louis  will consult at the Cheltenham Eye Centre every Monday morning and Thursday afternoon with an additional Wednesday morning once a month.
