Why choose us?

Latest Technology & Expertise

At NewVision Clinics we provide our teams with the latest and best resources in laser eye surgery technology as the industry evolves. We’re constantly refining our laser treatments to give you the best outcomes available.

Of course, in addition to using the latest, proven technology, the laser eye surgeon’s expertise is critical after surgery are equally important factors affecting final vision outcomes.

Our latest SILK procedure

SILK™ uses the ELITA™ laser to gently create a small, disc-shaped piece of tissue (lenticule) in the cornea. The lenticule is removed through a microscopic incision, reshaping the cornea and correcting the patient’s vision, all within minutes.

The ELITA™ laser results in an exceptionally fast lenticular procedure (~16 seconds) with next-day results and recovery with smooth corneal surface and clean flap edges, resulting in better healing and exceptional outcomes.

The ELITA™ system is the latest precision laser technology available.

SILK is the newest lenticular procedure and is now available at NewVision Clinics, leading the way in refractive laser surgery.

What is Excimer laser technology?

An Excimer Laser combines two gases, Argon and Fluorine, to form energy on a wavelength of 193 nanometers. This wavelength causes a process called photoablation. Each laser pulse removes approximately 0.25 microns of tissue – that’s one thousandth of a millimeter, which is the same as removing 1/2000th of a human hair in four billionths of a second.

The world’s most advanced laser eye surgery technology

Our available laser vision correction techniques are employed using two of the world’s most advanced laser machines.

The VisX STAR S4

With a reputation of dependability and performance the VisX STAR S4 represents one of the most advanced laser technology platforms available today.

Using WaveScan-based digital technology it diagnoses and measures imperfections in your eyes more precisely than standard methods. Its software can then translate the information into a set of wavefront custom treatment instructions for the laser – meaning the patient’s surgery is accurately tailored to their specific needs when surface imperfections might apply.

The Schwind Amaris 1050 RS (East Melbourne)

WaveScan technology was originally developed for use in high-powered telescopes to reduced distortions when viewing distant objects in space. This technology has now been applied to laser vision correction, measuring imperfections in the eye not measured using standard methods for glasses and contact lenses alone.

Professor Alpins works with most topography diagnostic companies and lasers.

Experience enhanced results with exclusive Advanced VSS Vector Planning

NewVision are the only clinics in Australia to use the latest VisX laser eye surgery technology VSS that gives exceptional results in visual outcomes.

The majority of our treatment planning uses Professor Alpins’ patented vector planning software. This takes into account the patient’s astigmatism in their prescription and the shape of their cornea, as well as a manifest refraction to calculate the best outcome. The combination of using the patients’ prescription and the corneal astigmatism (the shape of the cornea) gives patient’s optimised results.

ASSORT

In 1993 Professor Alpins revolutionised the way surgeons plan, develop and analyse laser eye surgery by developing “The Alpins Method of Astigmatism Analysis“.

His patented method is used by surgeons around the world and is now commercially available as the software program ASSORT (‘Alpins Statistical System for Ophthalmic Refractive Surgery Techniques‘).
